ESTIMATED QUANTIFICATION AND VALUATION OF FUELWOOD COLLECTED FROM FOREST AREAS OF NARMADA FOREST DIVISION OF GUJARAT STATE, INDIA

Science Collage, Modasa, Aravali, Gujarat, India Abstract The forest ecosystem is a primary source of fuel wood for forest dwellers as cooking energy and other purposes. The forest dwellers depend on the nearby forest area for taking fuel wood on headloads or otherwise. Therefore, an attempt has been done to estimate the quantity and monetary value of fuel wood being collected from the forest areas of Narmada Forest Division (NFD). This study was done in 31 forest villages covering 346 households through structured questionnaire interview based on the density classes of the forest and their dependence for fuelwood on the forest. It has been found that a total of 11 tree species are being frequently used as fuelwood. The investigation of the study showed that fuelwood collection was found to be 76561.79 Mt/annum with an estimated monetary value of Rs 114.7 million/annum. The fuel wood...

  Mushroom word derived from Latin and Greek words “ Fungus” and “Mykes”. In the present conception, a fungus species is considered edible if eating causes no health disorderes. In broad sense mushroom are fungi. Mushroom may be edible (Lepiota procera), inedible and poisonous( Lepiota margani), non poisonous. Valuation and Quantification of Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPS) Available in Baria Forest Division of Gujarat State, India

  Abstract Non-timber Forest Products (NTFPs) are the most accessible forest products of forest dwellers living in the vicinity of the forest areas which are important for their livelihood. In the present study, 10% of total villages and 10% of total sampled village households were selected in Baria Forest Division (BFD). Apart from this, the house to house structured questionnaire survey revealed that forest of BFD yield various NTFPs which are being collected by local people. During the study, a total of 43 types of NTFPs have been identified in BFD having economic value of INR 334.74 million/annum. The study also revealed that maximum economic value comes from leaves (76.25%) followed by flowers and seeds (18.37%), fruits (3.18%), herbs and other miscellaneous items (1.26%), gums and tanning materials (0.54%) while the least was recorded from bamboos (0.37%).Moreover, the estimated per capita value was found to be INR 157.3/annum against the per capita forest area of 0.038 ha.
